Are MBA programs a good investment?

You may hesitate when considering whether or not to pursue your MBA because of the rising cost of the degree. But an MBA will increase your hireability and position you for higher, long-term earning potential. Here are three reasons why an MBA is worth it:

• Gain additional skills in your field. You can focus your efforts in your MBA program on the field you intend to pursue after you graduate. With an expanded skillset and more sophisticated knowledge of the field, you’ll be a more competitive candidate right out of the gates.

• Build up your network. While pursuing your MBA, you will be able to network with business school professors, your peers, alumni and other professionals in your field. By the time you finish your MBA, your network will have grown substantially and will be a great benefit when looking for your next job.

• Many industries and companies explicitly prefer candidates with an MBA. As a professional who handles public relations and marketing for B.E Smith stated, “an MBA or some advanced degree is almost a must-have right now, and it’s expected now.” Companies know that MBAs have broader and more versatile business backgrounds, which make them more attractive.

Those weighing business school should consider an MBA as an investment. An investment in stronger skills, a larger and more robust professional network and stronger earning potential.
