How Rohan Got Into
University of Pennsylvania

Where it started

Rohan came to AcceptU in ninth grade as a strong student at a rigorous IB public high school in Nebraska. He was academically curious and capable across a lot of academic areas, but like many students early in high school, his interests were still broad. What he need from college admissions counseling was a clearer sense of direction and a long-term plan that would help his choices build on each other over time.

How we helped

Through guided reflection and regular conversations, Rohan’s counselor helped him narrow his academic focus to biochemistry and health-related research.

As that direction became clearer, his coursework, activities, and summer plans began to build on each other in a way that felt more natural and intentional.

A big part of that process was helping him make thoughtful choices within a demanding IB program. He stayed academically ambitious while also being more selective about which advanced STEM courses and outside opportunities made the most sense for the path he was building.

Over time, he developed real depth through long-term lab research at the University of Nebraska Medical Center, along with summer experiences that further strengthened his interest in chemistry and research.

At the same time, his growth was not limited to academics. He found ways to turn his strengths into impact by starting an ACT Prep Club and expanding math tutoring in his community.

Throughout the process, AcceptU helped Rohan and his family navigate important decisions, balance a heavy workload, and stay focused on what mattered most.

By the end, he was making decisions with much more confidence, and his profile felt clear, cohesive, and genuinely reflective of who he was becoming.
